Full definition
Email-to-lead extraction is a workflow where suppliers forward their lead emails to a unique campaign address, and an automated system parses the email body to extract the relevant contact fields — name, phone, email, address, notes, and any campaign-specific attributes — and creates a lead automatically. The parsing layer typically uses a language model to handle the messy reality of real supplier emails: every supplier formats things differently, some emails include multiple leads, attachments may carry the actual data, and HTML signatures create noise. Good implementations confidence-score the extraction and route low-confidence parses to a review queue rather than distributing them blindly. The payoff is operational: suppliers never need to log into a portal, buyers receive structured leads, and the platform gets a complete audit trail of the original email alongside the extracted record.
